This hand-carved cow bone ring depicts a bald eagle embracing a wolf. The carving is bezel-set in fine silver and mounted on a tapered sterling silver band.
The white wolf symbolizes loyalty, courage, devotion, leadership, and a deep connection to family and community. Often seen as a wise spiritual guide, the wolf is paired here with the eagle, a symbol of freedom, strength, courage, and vision. Eagles are also believed to be messengers between the earthly and spiritual realms.
Shana met the artist, Wayan Mardana, while traveling with her mother in Bali, Indonesia, in 2025. In Balinese Hindu tradition, cows are sacred. After a cow dies naturally, it is buried for several years before the bones are exhumed, cleaned, and transformed into sacred works of art. Wayan shared that this carving tradition has been passed down through his family for generations.
